About Gayxample

Gayxample is a reflection of our daily lives, showing scenes of the gay, lesbian and transgender world from a homosexual perspective, with all its joys and sorrows. It is a comedy-drama series in seasons of ten chapters each. In Gayxample we want to offer the audience something which comes straight from our own experiences as gay men and lesbians and which isn’t distorted by homophobic society. It is our intention to entertain and at the same time leave an imprint on the viewer, regardless of their sexual preference. Everybody, either directly on indirectly, will be able to identify themselves with one or some of the characters. Gayxample’s strength therefore resides in its very realistic characters.

Gayxample will be broadcast on the web. Internet broadcasting is already with us and is clearly the future. It has a potential range of at least thirty times more than traditional television. In addition, on the internet, transparency is total, there is no censorship. And last but not least it is also less expensive.

The casting sessions were a pleasant surprise. Lots of people showed up for the auditions; many of them very well prepared. But what was more surprising was the apparent enthusiasm that motivated them to take part in such a project. It would be great if we could make many series of Gayxample. That way we would be able to offer the opportunity to many more actors and actresses who could not be selected for this first series due to the reduced number of characters, It was especially difficult to choose the actresses, as there was a remarkable number of women who auditioned extremely well. With this in mind we are planning to introduce more female characters in future episodes.

Gayxample is a project that has been designed, led and directed by Giuseppe Storelli, an Italian who settled in Barcelona in 2002. The series will show to the world a very true reality of the tolerance and respect that can be felt not only in this particular neighbourhood of Barcelona, but also in Catalonia and Spain in general. It is an international project, which will be subtitled in English, French, German, Dutch and Italian to take it to the largest audience possible.

Series like Gayxample show gays, lesbians and transgender men and women, as people with the same rights as others, free to express themselves like anyone else.
